Hello, I have this issue where one of my netmetal radios that provide service to clients lock up. seems to be locked up. It was working fine previously and we’ve always been able to log into it before but today it has dropped it’s client and now when I try to log in through winbox it gives the mentioned error. Trying through SSH, it does the logon action but after typing in the password once and hitting enter, it just asks for a password again. I’m sure I’m connecting to the correct port, IP, and username and password are correct. The radio will still ping and is showing SNMP info.
As it stands I will have to dispatch out to reboot the radio physically. Has anyone ever ran into this issue before and been able to fix it without dispatching out?
Side question: Sometimes our netmetals drop all of their clients at once and they don’t reconnect until the radio is rebooted. Any ideas what that is about?
Do you have any idea how many different "Netmetal" versions there are
and how many different versions of RouterOS there are?
no details = no answer
You need to find someone on the forum who still wants to ask the usual questions, asked thousands of times, to get all the information needed to answer, which you (perhaps) know, but don't write.
There are multiple errors message when trying to connect to a router uncorrectly.
The “router refused connection” is probably because of a network error.
From my experience, here are the messages I’ve got, and the reasons
“wrong username or password” : It could be either a bad combination OR your IP is not whitelisted (if defined) in “/ip/services” or “/user”
“Router does not accept secure mode, try legacy…” : Either this is a VERY old router, or the router is applying a script / resetting configuration
“Router refused connection” : sometimes asymetrical routes, bad MTU (if trying with MacWinbox, it should stay for a few seconds on “Logging in…” then fails with that message”.
Maybe this is for another reason, but it looks network-related, maybe your firewall is completely opened, but you defined specific ports for your services ? Like SSH not being on port 22, Winbox 8291…
I don’t think it is firewall-related, because in this case you would get no answer from the router.
