I finally worked up the courage to upgrade form 7.14 to 7.16 on a bunch of devices. Mostly went just fine. Couple of scripts needed tweaking.
One (of the many things) I noticed is that Netwatch is finding “down” states very very often since the upgrade.
I assumed something changed. I use type SIMPLE for all the netwatch entries. Perhaps some of the hard coded defaults for SIMPLE changed.
Then I looked deeper and I see that connectivity into and out of that router has indeed degraded.
Pings (from the RB5009) to various public servers are in the 60-90ms range and times-out 30-50% of the time – far worse than before the upgrade.
I’m using Verizon FIOS and the RB5009 is connected directly to Verizon’s ONT.
Is there anything about the changes from 7.14 to 7.16 that could explain this?
What should I do?
