Network expansion

Hi,

I want to redesign my network a bit.

My current router is a CCR2004-1G-12S-2XS, and my network switch is a CRS326-24G-2S+RM.

On the CRS326, I have three 802.3ad bonds configured, each with two 1Gbps.
I have the same bond interfaces configured on three Proxmox servers.

First, I want to have two switches and configure them in MLAG for redundancy. That means I'd like to connect each 2x 1Gb server to CRS1 and the 2x 1Gb server to CRS2.

From what I know, the current CRS326-24G-2S+RM switch doesn't support MLAG.

Which switches are worth considering?

I was thinking about the CRS328-4C-20S-4S+RM.

The servers have RJ45 interfaces, but the switches may have SFP ports. In that case, I'll use an SFP-to-RJ45 adapter.

After that, I want to buy a second CCR2004 and configure both as active backups - VRRP.

If the servers have 1 Gb interfaces It doesn't make IMHO much sense to have switches with "copper" SFP's, they are little stoves and consume a lot of power.

I used 1Gb SFP RJ45 inserts in the CCR2004 for quite a while and didn't notice them getting hot.

However, when I used 10Gb SFP RJ45 inserts, they got really hot.

I'm more curious if the CRS328-4C-20S-4S+RM supports MLAG without any issues.

Sure, the 10 Gb ones are much worse.

Alternatively, which other Mikrotik switch supports MLAG?

I need 6x 1Gb RJ45 and 4x SFP+

Not CCR2004-1G-12S+2XS?

If the server has/or you can install a 10G capable SFP NIC, you can connect via that technology. It will be more efficient than the bonding. If you able to install DAC cable, it will not be hot and energy efficient.

Also you can connect via 10G link to the switch, too.
