Hello

I intend to purchase cloud smart router 24 port.

I’ve always been using openwrt for home/small offices. Quite simple setups actually. I was advised that mikrotik routers is insecure out of the box and configuration is required to secure it. I want to know how complex it is, especially when transitioning from openwrt.

Would like to know if it would take days to learn how to use routeros or if its generally easy. I have general networking knowledge and have ease configuring multiwan’s for openwrt / pfsense.

Most importantly is securing it

I don’t know what that means at the moment. What is it that’s “insecure”?

It can accept incoming dns requests from wan for example when you switch on the dns cache. So you need to set up some firewall rules to protect it. Nothing more. Of course you will set also other rules according to your needs. It is not generally insecure. It is as much secure as you set it. But anyway you should browse the forum and don’t ask for the topics that are discussed here all around.
