New Hardware Setup Advice

Hello,

I am looking for advice on a new home network. I am coming from Meraki. It’s what I learned on and it’s all I know. However, Meraki’s throughput is pathetic. My new home network is at&t fiber 1000mbps. I have forty something runs of cat7. I will be running poe cameras, plex server, vm, home automation, nas, and hdbaset matrix. Looking to keep my data speeds while firewalling everything. I currently use Meraki’s advanced security features. I am not familiar with Mikrotik, but this is where I’ve been led to look at. Some ubiquiti reviewers got me looking at Mikrotik.

I am hoping for some advice on which models to implement.

Thank You!

Pick a router from this lineup. With a packsize of 64, the CCR1036 is the only unit that can keep up with 1000Mbps. Realistically, every packet won’t be 64 byte in size. So, you could go down a model or two. Look at the bottom of each product page to get an idea of throughput.

Next, you’ll need a swtich. MikroTik will be releasing a 24 port PoE switch, hopefully soon. It was announced at the beginning of the year. For now, you don’t have an option here. For standard RJ45 switching, you only have the CRS326 as an option. You could use the CRS317 coupled with their new S+RJ10 SFP connector if you wanted to go that way.
