I just bought a bunch of RB5009 devices and since each comes now with predefined admin password it’s a pain to write down the password for 1st login nor is it included in a QRCode for example on the label so to be able to scan it…
Is there any option to access the password in digital form that I missed so to speed up deployment?
The shop where you buy it from, can provide passwords in a CSV file, it’s handy if you have hundreds of devices, but for a single device, just write it by hand once
thank you for your response, I agree that for one-off it is easier to just write down manually but when you have 10+ devices on desk to set some default configuration it’s a bit of a PITA.
At the moment I have opted for netinstall with custom script so that even after a router is reset by the customer by mistake at least we have our own default config and password (which is unfortunately still shown in the /system/default-configuration/print).
Isn’t the default config only shown to user with administrative rights? That is so on my devices. And probably the reason for restriction is exactly this …
So if you don’t give admin rights to your customers, then they can’t see the default password. If you do give them admin rights, then you’ve lost the game anyway (with or without them seeing your default password).
