New RB952Ui - No wlan interface

Routerboard hAP ac lite, with firmware 6.34.4.

First time using one of these (and RouterOS in general), and super confused as to why I don’t have any wlan interfaces, nor can create/enable one, etc. Any attempt to create a vlan in the wireless section doesn’t work due to not being able to select any “master interface”.

It also doesn’t have the wireless package that I see mentioned in my searches. It had wireless-cm2, and I tried switching to wireless-fp.

I did do a reset on the router after accidentally locking myself out via unkown IP (in retrospect I probably could have gotten back in).

Do I need to manually install the wireless package for some reason? Or might I have a borked device? Bought off of Amazon… Am using the supplied 24V power supply.

Install latest ROS with netinstall

As above, get onto the latest stable build of rOS and it should work. There is a very outside possibility the wireless chip is not working hence not having the interfaces available but it’s more likely that rOS just needs a kick.

**When you’ve reset it you didn’t put it into CAPSMan mode did you? That would stop you from operating the wlan interfaces.

I upgraded to 6.37.x, no luck.

I just followed the procedure to get into CAPs mode, and that gave me a new popup regarding that, so I was not in that mode before.

Looking at the startup script, I found where it tries to access the wireless interface(s), and my log has the corresponding error message: “DefConf: Unable to find wireless interfaces”.

I’m thinking this is faulty hardware… I’ve got a handful of these at work that have been sitting around, so I’m going to see if those work better.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I just bought three RB952Ui-5ac2nD-US. All of them have this issue.

Could seriously all three have bad wireless hardware? Seems unlikely, and that would be ridiculous. But I don’t know how to resolve it.

I get the same “DefConf: Unable to find wirless interface(s)”. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RouterOS version?
firmware version? (System > Routerboard, check Current vs Upgrade firmware).

Are there any interfaces in Wireless?

All packages show 6.37.3, and the firmware shows 3.33 for everything.

No interfaces in Wireless

Another clue is that in System:Resources.PCI, there is an Atheros Communications “unknown device” with device ID 0x0050.

Do yoi wireless package installzd?

Yes, the wireless package is installed and enabled

dBCooper, please write to support@mikrotik.com and specify all the Serial Numbers of the devices that doesn’t show wireless interfaces.
