New router reboots and fails to load kernel

Hi all,

Just got in a bunch of new routers today and the first one out of the box is displaying some disturbing issues. It is a rb2011uas-2hnd-in and after a few minutes it just reboots out of nowhere and then the lcd displays the boot process. Once it hits “loading kernel”, it stays there for a few seconds and then the “L” in kernel gets corrupted or pixelated. I’ve managed to get the reset a few times, but I honestly believe something else is going on here. It is running 5.23.

I purchased a single rb2011 a couple of weeks ago as a test and that is running flawlessly. Supposedly these routers that I got today just arrived at my supplier on Friday of last week (3/8/2012). I’m hoping this is not a sign of a bad production run.

update: 10:39pm

I found that if I power up the unit and then as soon as the first led flashes I pull the power and plug it back in, the unit comes backup. The settings also appear to be intact. Sadly I can’t put this router into production with this type of problem, so any advice would be great. I’m going to try and update the RouterOS to 5.24 (currently 5.23).

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Ken
