New Switch hardware

Is there any new switches near announcement?
I’m in a need of switch with 24 gigabit ports with 802.3at out on at least 12 ports. Rack mountable.

The dream is that is would support VSS and Etherchannel across multiple switches. But the PoE 802.3at out on multiple ports is key.

I don’t think MT is going to release a switch with more than 5 poe ports soon.

I know RB750UP, Omnitik and Powerbox all have 4 poe out and one 1 poe in port.

I think your best solution now is to use a 24 port poe patch panel.

Same as my conclusion.
And their PoE output isn’t following the IEEE802.3af/at standard.

I think mikrotik need to implement STP in their switches before releasing another switch. When you switch cables on the switch for gateways the switch will hang and you’ll have to restart it even though there are no loops. To have to restart non consumer equipment is very shameful.

D-LINK has suitable one for you:
DGS-1100-24P: 24-Port Gigabit PoE Smart Managed Switch (12 x PoE ports, fan)

yes because 802.3 PoE is expensive

in my experience no need for expensive PoE, maybe other implementations need it

I have a Cisco 2960-24-PC-L, but i was hoping Mikrotik had a replacement for it.
Anyway, we’ll stick with Cisco for switching then.

When deploymening tens of accesspoints, im not in the need of 10+ powersockets for adapters, or a messy patching rack with alot of powerboxes laying around. Power to one switch, thats it. And the easy powercycle of a AP is just a port shutdown away.

We have vessels all around the world, and in just very rare cases i have handson access to the equipment. Remote access is key for our operation.

I have just started playing around with CAPsMANv2, and hoped this could eliminate the need for $200+ accesspoints from Unifi or Aerohive… But 802.3 is important.

you can afford more expensive equipment

you want we to pay more for stuff we dont need

because you want to pay less for the stuff you need

very selfish

too much small project are viable because of passive PoE

for many people to access to internet the main problem is money not cable cluttering

many people do not have internet access until mikrotik develop this reliable but affordable devices
