And Why is this an 802.11an and Not ac, again only low cost market?
Same for new LHG Modells, Why there are only 802.11an

I also don’t understand why Mikrotik doing new device without AC…
It’s unlogical…

What we have in .ac with ROS >

  • no finer manual data-rates control
  • no spectral scan
  • higher price
    Also, SXT/LHG has 10/100mbps only port so even if you’re lucky enough to get more than 100mbps over radio it is limited by fast ethernet port.

IMO the end goal is the lowest price possible for low-end high power/gain CPE.
If someone needs more than that there is Dynadish (gigabit ether, .ac radio).

True, that’s why we’re using almost exclusively 802.11n APs and CPEs.

We’re also looking for something “new” to replace them in the future but that for sure won’t be 802.11ac equipment.

yes, i want to add:

802.11ac main improvements: 80mhz channels, 256qam modulation

are not viable for ptmp

i think sxt sg lite is a move in the rigth direction to be competitive for mikrotik in ptmp:
one drawback of mikrotik was limited and expensive options of cpe.

now we have a very competitive offer of CPE, with viable options for long distances:

special case

that gives us a spectrum of inexpensive devices to make viable to have routeros across all the network from core to cpe

The “Lite” in the name means exactly that. Another version will come soon. This is the lower cost model without “ac”, when you need a longer link in a rural areas where there is barely any internet at all, so you don’t care about AC speeds.

We have 100% access point in A/N/AC mode with mixed clients N/AC. The N clients (9300) works well with mixed mode AP but if you have good signal (<-50db) AC clients works much better. I hope to see soon the AC version of LDF/LHG

@normis: any chance of a 2.4 GHz version coming soon too?

You can attach grounding wire to metal ethernet connector, to the PCB board or to a special grounding screw if present. Also you can use a shielded cable and ground on the bottom of the tower.
