New to router OS....need a little advise.

Hi. I’m new to Router OS. I’m starting to get the hang of things…I think. I really like the product and things it can do for the price. Using ubiquity for years, there is a lot more I can do with this stuff. As far as the wired routers, they seem bulletproof. I have bought some of the wireless gear and had some issues. I “bricked” a couple of the metal5shp radios buy using the “remove default config” on the first time startup screen. After I got replacements, I decided to just modify the current config and go from there. I also bought some sextants and when you use the quickset feature and try to change modes from cpe to PTP and so on, the device kinda went stupid. At this point, I can’t get them to connect to each other which was working earlier. I went in to reconfigure and make some changes and stumbled on the quickset feature. Thought it would be a good idea to feel my way around with the different setup options and procedures… It seems like there is an issue with something in the software and the quickset. I did upgrade them from 6.18 to 6.28

Was that not a good thing to do? My other question is, if you load all the packages in, can it cause more harm than good on some devices?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Anyone have any good advice?

Thanks..

This is the first time I see that someone bricked the router just by config removal. This is the first thing I do everytime I need to set a new device. I don’t recommend to use quickset because you don’t know what everything and how will be altered in configuration and when during the clicking in quickset. Some changes are applied even you were not pressed confirmation button. Making the manual minimal config is the best. And finally, I am installing only the individually selected packages I need.
