Please could someone help me. I’m new at this Mikrotik router and need help.

Equipment used.
Lenovo laptop N500 (no serial port for netinstall)
Windows(R) Vista
433 router
Winbox 2.2.13

Problem. When I connect Eth1 to my laptop, I can connect via the MAC address. I allocate IP range 192.168.88.1/24 to Eth1. How do I save this? when I restart the router, I can not connect via the IP, only via the MAC.

Second Problem.
When I try to reset the router (holding the RESET button in when I power it up), it keeps the ip allocated.

You also have to also manually allocate a fixed IP to your lan port on your laptop. E.g. 192.168.88.254/255.255.255.0 No need to allocate anything else, e.g. default gateway or dns at this stage. This will ensure you are able to make a good connection via TCPIP to the RouterBoard. Then you can implement more settings via winbox.
