New wireless registration crashes all PPPoE sessions

Hi everybody,
I tried searching on the forum with no luck so I wrote this post.

Scenario: AP made with Routerboard (433AH, 532A or 600A) running RouterOS 4.5, two or three mini-pci cards (Ubiquiti XR2 and XR5) installed for every board. The radios in ap-bridge mode are in the same “bridge” and PPPoE server listens for requests on the “bridge” interface. Metal outdoor enclosure, high-quality setup (pigtails, cables and antennas) so we have no RF-related issues.

Problem: sometimes when a new wireless client connects to the first radio interface of the routerboard, all PPPoE active sessions crash (see attached image).

Note: if the wireless client doesn’t connect (e.g. it’s blocked in the access-list) there is no problem for PPPoE sessions. If the same client connects to the second or third radio interface, all PPPoE sessions remain active with no problem.

I’ve already tried “reset-configuration” for every single radio card, I’ve tried increasing “hw-retries”… but the problem is still there. This used to happen in RouterOS v3 as well.

Have any of you experienced this problem?

Thanks,
mattia

Hi Mattia,

the wireless client is always the same? And… it’s a iPhone?

Hi magnavox,
as far as I can see there are different clients with different MAC addresses.

PPPoE sessions crash also when our Nanostations and 5 CPEs try to connect, so I think is up to the AP-side…

Very strange… send my a PM with your email if you are allowed to send PM (my not :frowning: ) and I will try to help you

Thanks, but I prefer to keep the discussion on this board, since it may be helpful to others!

I agree, but some tests should perfomed on realtime
