i am going to install routerOs on usb flash.
I want to put in in production machine. So i am wondering, if routerOs install depends on hardware that i am instaling on?
Will there be a diffenrence if i:
install it on production machine from cd, or
make netiinstall on from any other computer?
AFAIK windows adaptes to hardware (multiprocesor/single procesor), when instaling, and i think same thing (selects modules to load on boot).
you can install it on any machine. if another machine’s parts are not supported, then they are unsupported at all
There is a supported hardware list. That includes Supported and Tested solutions. so you don’t have to just hope, you can purchase a unit, pull it out of the box, plug it in the rack and start configuration. That it. I have allready tested ROS with my hardware. It ran as fast as debian, so now i am with debian, ant the hardware is in production. So i want to install ROS to flash drive on other system, with older procesor.
SO i was wondering if ROS instaler makes any optimizations depending on hardware.
For example when you compile linux kernel you can specify procesor type, and additional x86 features.
no, nothing that specific. Autoconfiguration will make everything you need, even if you move the storage medium to other hardware. (just check if everything is ok with license, or install without license, fire up your machine and then add license to the installation.
So autoconfiguration takes place everytime system boots? Or only after install?
