Newbie question - can't connect to default IP

Hi there,

I’ve just received my 250GS in the post but when I plug it in, I can’t seem to connect to the default IP - it just times out. Is there any easy way to find out what IP it might be set to?

I saw in the wiki there’s something called “neighbor discovery protocol tools” that might work but I’m a complete novice when it comes to all this and I don’t understand what this is. I was hoping for an exe I could download and run but I guess that’s not what it is!

Can any one help?

Thanks in advance…

Do you are in same subnet with switch defaul IP?

I’m not entirely sure about subnets - my PC has an IP of 192.168.0.9 and I assumed that this was the same subnet as 192.168.88.1 but does the PC need to be 88 as well?

Thanks

In short: yes.
In longer: it’s very likely, but impossible to tell for sure without your subnet mask. Try it out.

Thanks guys for being so patient with such a noob  I set my LAN card to have a static IP in the 88 range and it worked perfectly. I’ve now managed to change the default IP on the switch to match the range of the rest of my network and it all works brilliantly.

Thanks for the help!
