Newbie questions about Routerboards.

Finally I bought one of this hardware babies, but I’ve got a problem.
I resolder my serial cable, and now I’ve got connections with routerboard throw serial console, but I can’t geto to it from the network.

  1. Without Ip adress from winbox, I see the RB, but it get pingtimeout.
  2. With IP adress, winbox reacts and writes the appropriate IP adrress but again i can’t connect.
  3. I can’t ping the RB. I can’t arping the RB.
  4. From RB i can’t ping PC, but i CAN arping it.

I used setup and “reset” RB conf.

I use CrossOver UTP to connect PC to RB.

Am I missing something?

(The RB is brand new came with preinstalled 2.9.5 with license until 1 jan 2007).

you ran setup command and made all correct configuration like enabling of interfaces, adding of ip addresses and netmasks and default gateway ?

Yes, i try throw setup, and without setup.

When I start the RB and try to enter from WinBox … sometimes it connects, but when disconnect, and try to connect again … timed out.
I give different IPs to different port … and nothing. I can’t ping from RB, I can only arping.

Interfaces were enabled by default. I disable-enable all of them but, nothing happens.
I don’t insert gateway, cause I don’t need this device in the network.

Did I get buggy board ?

Check the utp patchcord?..

Yes I resolve the the problem alone :frowning: UTP patchcord or worst my laptop NIC (have to resolve it better).
