newbie winbox problem

Hi, after days :open_mouth: of struggling to get two RB500 boards to communicate properly (edited due to embarassment many apologies, i’ll do my best to not post when frustrated anymore)… we’ve finally got the two boards communicating and routing etc etc (wireless clients can get to outside world… well here’s the scoop

AP = 10.1.0.1
other board IP = 10.1.0.2

i can use winbox to get THROUGH the AP to the other RB but whenever i try and connect to the AP it always times out - on three different machines. we have no bandwidth limit in place, we have no firewall rules in place, the only thing we have added in there is a WEP key.

I am able to winbox in if i am directly connected with ethernet, webbox works all the time, ssh works all the time, telnet works all the time. did a power cycle and still no joy - any help is extremely appreciated on this.

i can deal with a terminal client, however the rest of everyone here can’t.

much thanks :open_mouth:

i did some work and looking around on the forums and then noticed a little comment from someone else having problems with winbox “extensive data loss: disconnecting” or something to that effect, then i read a topic about the 2.9.x OS having problems with the prism card i put 2+2 together and et voila i turn down the power on the prism card to 100mW from 200mW and like magic the winbox starts working again across all connection types - will probably turn the card down to 30mW before we put it on the tower since there will be an amp there
