RouterOS Beginner Basics

Hi I am the proud new owner of RB750 and a few questions

1 the thing comes with routerOS do I have to register this or something or is it good to go ?

2 this board has only ethernet ports no console or serial how easy will it be to lock myself out? (given i will be ssh and CLI)

3 having done that will i be able to restore somehow

4 Can i prepare for such an event by saving my software key (how see Q1) or saving my firmware or some other means

  1. Good to go
  2. That’s why you have five ports :slight_smile: If you disable one, you still have others.
  3. If you disable all - you have the reset button
  4. You don’t need to save the key, but you can safe software configuration in a file with the command “/export file=name” and “/system backup save”. Do both, as each file has it’s own advantages.

thanks for that but i cant for the life of me see where the dratted karma buttons are :confused:

nope the + and - tick boxes are not present for me

on a more serious note i cant seem to find a CLI guide lots about API and winbox is there a CLI reference?

ahh ha your karma buttons have magically appeared but not for normis

  2. Karma buttons are only for people with more than 5 posts (I think)
