I have a custom designed topology (not AutoDiscovered) that Is used to monitor our infrastructure. I have figured out how to Manually add new items and monitoring the desired services on my infrastructure. I am struggling with the manual link creation and line speed creation. My Topology has recently changed and requires an overhaul on the map. The outdated documentation for the software doesn’t appear to cover this and my attempts to locate any further information always comes back to someone recommending “Auto Discovery”. Is there a simple step by step process that anyone can assist me with in the creation of manual links with line/link speed? Thank you in advance.
Right click on the map select +Add Link
Drag the line between two devices, if you don’t click on a device for both ends of the link the line does not appear and you have to start over.
Double click on the new link or right click on the new link and select settings.
In the device drop down box select the device you would like to create the link to/from.
Note: depending on where the link is placed determines which devices are in the device list.
For example a link between a submap and a device will show all the devices in the submap and the device.
Select a mastering type of snmp, make sure you have setup snmp correctly.
You can tell if snmp is setup correctly for the device if you hover on a device and see the snmp settings for the device like location and device name.
This will populate the interface list and you will be able to select the interface you would like to monitor.
Select the interface you would like to monitor like g0/1 or s0/0/0…
Don’t manually specify the speed. You should select the type of link that is preconfigured for the speed of the link you are monitoring.
Select the type or make your own custom type of link. Point to Point is for t1, fast ethernet is for 100mbps…
Note If you are making a custom TEN-gigabit link type the snmp counters are not capable of 10,000,000,000 and the maximum speed for TEN-gigabit links is 4294967295. You must create your own TEN-gigabit type and put a speed of 4294967295 or less. There is proabably a better workaround for this but non of my 10Gig links are every over 2gigabits so I haven’t looked.
