for TG-LR92 / TG-LR82 is there any support for external power? even if the sensor box is ~$30 (relatively cheap....-ish), i see that it's basically designed as planned obsolescence e-waste with about 5 years life because it depends on the internal battery - that battery is not designed to be recharged or even replaced. (i wonder... is it potted in resin inside?)
The PDF says 1100mAh LiMnO₂, Non-replaceble in the spec sheet (yup, typo included too! :stuck_out_tongue: )

i was looking if it's possible to change the battery to a rechargeable one and/or a beefy supercapacitor, and then charge it with a small solar panel mounted on top... was thinking of installing such sensor tags on a moving (swinging) gate close to the gate hinge and connect it to a small solar panel mounted on top of the pole with the hinge.
Maybe even glue a small solar panel directly on top of the tag box, there are modern solar panels that are tiny enough and can fit perfectly when glued on top of the box and can do enough trickle charge for this.

And nobody is stopping you from using them.

Those other vendors are pricing that flexibility close to $80 which is the price for a low cost 5V USB powered AP like this hAP be lite and for which $20 GPOE-USB 5V is primarily designed for...

I use them a lot (for DSL-Modems, ATAs, CCTV, Phones) - but I like Tik and its sad they come up with such a (pricy) thing (compare 5, 9, 12 and 18V flexibility for 35€ to 5V only for 20€). Zero usecase for the Tik-thing - unfortunately. Still waiting for the mAPax :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
