Interesting: I just installed RouterOS on a x86. Just purchased a license too. First thing I did after turning it on was log in (UN: admin, PW: ) and create a new user with group “full”, and delete the admin user. Logged out, logged back in with the new user. Everything’s fine so far.
Logged back out, plugged it into my network switch, went to log in via Winbox using the MAC address. Winbox discovered it no problem. Everything’s fine so far.
Enter username and password, click connect:
Error: wrong username or password
Ooookay…let’s create a new User just for show. UN: test, PW: test1234
Done, works fine from CLI login using keyboard. Log out.
Winbox: UN: test, PW: test1234.
