Hi,
I have a Mikrotik 750GL .
I want to watch the IP-TV served by my ISP provider but is not working (the TV-application/browser, requires the VLC plugin).
I read that I need IGMP Proxy in order to VLC-view the multicasted IPTVs
Please tell me WHY RB750G has IGMP Proxy and RB750GL does not ?
Why don’t you (Mikrotik People) clearly state the differences between 750G and 750GL in your propaganda? (because if I knew it’s about 10$…)
Please Help.
You need to install multicast package in ROS.
Which incidentally is clearly stated in the manual:
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Routing/Multicast#Requirements
Requirements
Multicast is available on all architectures supported by RouterOS. Packages required:
system
multicastNote: v3.x routing-test and multicast packages are incompatible. In case when both are present one of them will be disabled
Note: To get the package you have to download all-packages archive and upload/install multicast package separately on the router
As previously noted you only don’t have it because the optional package isn’t installed. Both models have the same RouterOS license level and architecture, so you can run the same packages.
The main differences between the 750G, and the 750GL which replaced it, are a slower CPU (680Mhz → 400MHz), more RAM (32Mb → 64Mb), a more capable switch chip (Atheros8316 → Atheros8327), Higher max MTU (1524 → 4074), and a cheaper price. That info is directly from the following product pages or comparison pages on the website:

Thank you all for your quick-answers (I knew it that if I’ll “touch” the Mtik’s pride, solutions will come… ![]()
So there is a free (aka no more money) package somewhere (containing my IGMP Proxy) and all I have to do is to learn how to install it.
… and finally I’ll get my wife off my back with her IPTV …
Thank you!

Bit of a dick move, really.
