Hi, Hope Some one can help me with this.
I used to have a 2 linksys routers. First one (EA2700) was the main router connected to my ISP modem and than a second Linksys router (E3200) with DD-WRT on it with a VPN setup on it connected to a LAN port to the first one (EA2700). Giving me the option to connect to either one wirelessly depending if I needed to be on the VPN or regular internet.
I have since replaced the EA2700 with a Mikrotik 2011uas-2hnd-in. And am really pleased with the performance and options on it as well as the price of them.
I have successfully setup a Hotspot on the WLAN on the 2011uas as well as what I think is a DHCP LAN on ports 3 to 5. The problem is when I connect my E3200 to one of those ports there is no internet on the E3200 with the VPN on it.
Is there something simple that I missing? I will gladly provide more info if needed. I am just not clear what info would be needed for this setup.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Why mess with the other routers at all?
You can VLAN this stuff. You could have both subnets on the one router. You could have access by physical port or SSID attached.
Thanks for the reply
Don’t think I know enough to be able to set that up or know exactly what you mean by VLAN.
The DD-WRT router has a custom script installed on it somewhere with my login and password that I got from my HMA VPN Provider, that I wouldn’t have a clue to begin to set that up on the RB2011. But if there is a guide or if you could give me a better idea on how to start with that I would most certainly would like to explore that option.

There you go. Used that this week to set up a network where 2 devices needed to always use the VPN. The rest used the normal connection. Worked fine.
Thank you!
I just read over the instructions and they look pretty straight forward. I’m at work right now but hope to try this tonight or by this weekend sometime.
Just a couple of questions:
- How do I know if I’m connect to or through the VPN on my wireless devices?
- Can I have devices connected through the VPN and regular internet simultaneously? or do I have to enable and disable it as I need it.
Using address lists you can divide up how or what uses the VPN.
To test if you are on it…
try whatsmyip.org
When on the VPN you should get an IP from the HideMyAss Server.
Compared to your local when not using it.
