no ip after system reset

I’ve got my first 2 Mikrtotik by today, so I’m just a newbie (RB512, 1 miniPCI a+b+g card, …)

Sorry about that, I know that this might be a stupid/newbie thing but… :frowning:

Starting with one of them, I’ve done something wrong, lost the original 192.168.10.1 ip.
With neighbor viewer found that was at 10.1.0.190…
Then I did a telnet and ran “/system reset” just for restarting from scratch but… now neighbor viewer says that the IP is 0.0.0.0 and I can’t access to the router, even with MAC telnet (after login/pwd, gives a timeout and connection closes)…

If I do connect directly using the serial port, I get the console, but stops after the message “Starting services…”

So… what I have to do in order to get it back?

Thanks in advance

Hi rroca@guifi

As a newbie, I recommend searching the online manual for reference before asking questions on the forum.

To solve your problem, please have a look at the “discovers and shows MNDP (MikroTik Neighbor Discovery Protocol) or CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol) devices” in this link.

I’m doing so… just trying my best :frowning:. By the docs I understand that I could access by mac, however:

If I do click at the “…” button at WinBox, it comes up with the MAC and 0.0.0.0 as the IP address, If I connect using that, then I get this message:

Could not connect to 00:0C.42:04:5F:09 (port 20561) - timed out!

When using NighborViewer.exe, asks for login&pwd, but also gives me a time out…

What I’m doing wrong? Thx.

Just found where was the problem:
I was connecting from a laptop that have 2 NICs: one RJ45 and a wireless card.

By deactivating the wireless card, I was able to MAC telnet to the router using NeighborViewer.exe

Thx

No problems, I have caught out on that one as well.
