I downgraded my old RB133 back to router os 3.17 by dragging the .npk file into file window in winbox as usually done and after reboot I get a message saying no licence key found and router will stop working in 23 hours time.
I did not extract key before downgrade.
How can I obtain a replacement key for my board ?
I know it is old but is perfect for an internet router on my home network.

downgrade is never a good idea. upgrade back, and you will have your license.
had to use netinstall to upgrade router this time.
Other method did not work as router os stayed on 3.17
But all sorted now.

yes, if router loses license, the FTP upgrade will not work (that works only with licensed devices) so you have to use Netinstall to upgrade
