No Signal Reception in Room with Two Walls (cAP ax)

Hello everyone,

I’m using a MikroTik cAP ax access point mounted on the ceiling. Based on the specs and power of this device, I expected the signal to reach a room that is two walls away, but unfortunately, I’m not getting any signal there. The distance between the access point and the room is less than 15 meters.

I haven’t adjusted the settings for Tx Power and Antenna Gain, and they are still on their default values. The access point is operating on the 2.4GHz bands.

Given these default settings and the relatively short distance, the signal seems to be very weak or non-existent in that particular room. Could the walls be the issue, or should I consider adjusting these settings or any other configurations? Any advice or suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

Walls made of? Bricks? Concrete? Metal? Drywall?

The walls are made of bricks.

Can you estimate the wall thickness? Solid brick or with air chambers?

Bricks with air chambers like this:

These look like 10cm thick. I would expect to have at least a weak signal -80 or worse. My AP penetrates at 2 times a 25cm brick wall and some 10cm brick walls in between and I still have a very weak signal. But no signal is super strange.

Look at my config:

set [ find default-name=wifi2 ] channel.band=2ghz-ax .frequency=2437 .width=\
    20mhz configuration.mode=ap .ssid=Zeton disabled=no name=WLAN-2.4GHz \
    security=MyKey
