No SwOS option on CRS312-4C+8XG-RM

Hi,
Just purchased CRS312-4C+8XG-RM with the intent of using it as L2 device (I have CCR1009-7G-1C-1S+ in place for routing). CRS312-4C+8XG-RM came with 6.45.9 as factory FW.

I’ve tried to find an option to select a Boot OS in both WebFig and WinBox but it is completely missing. I’ve also upgraded the FW to 6.48 but it did not bring the option to select Boot OS :frowning: Online search did not help: this CRS is listed as DualBoot device and it is not!

I found another post here at the forums for CRS354-48G-4S+2Q+ http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/swos-on-crs354-48g-4s-2q-missing/137340/1 that is also missing SwOS which was initially in the specs but then Mikrotik removed that option, apparently because SwOS for this model is still being tested almost a year after it hit the market! I am wondering if this is the same situation with CRS312-4C+8XG-RM…

So, question to Mikrotik or somebody familiar: does CRS312-4C+8XG-RM support SwOS, and if so, how to boot into it?

Thanks.

P.S. Tried /system routerboard settings set boot-os=swos as well, did not work.

i have the same issue.

I am also experiencing this issue.

Turns out to be a bug in the software/firmware. Contact support.

What’s new in 6.48.1 (2021-Feb-03 10:54):

*) crs312 - fixed missing SwOS firmware on revision 2 devices;

Nice!

Before you pull your hair out… It’s not as simple as just updating to the newest version of RouterOS. I blindly did that and wish I had better understood what else is needed.

Having now solved it, go read my post on this other thread with the step-by-step instructions to get SwOS running on the CRS312-4C+8XG-RM.
