No traffic using Intel Wireless-N 7260

Hi All,

after sorting out some initial quirks here and there, I am mostly a happy camper now, proudly running my entire home network on MikroTik gear, and everything pretty much just works, except for a single (older) Lenovo IdeaPad that seems to have trouble connecting at maximum speed. It’s using a (Lenovo-branded) Intel Wireless-N 7260 WiFi card, which for some reason can associate with one of my APs (300 Mbit/s at 2.4 GHz, it doesn’t show any 5 GHz networks) but will not transfer any valid packets and thus doesn’t even obtain an IP address via DHCP. The funny thing is that it will work without any issues when limiting it to 802.11g (54 Mbit/s), of course sacrificing the bigger part of its maximum bandwidth.

I have read in several places that this particular network card seems to be somewhat problematic, but I was wondering whether any of you perhaps have some advice for how to make it operate in 802.11n mode. The card is running the most recent intel drivers, Windows 10 version was upgraded to the brand new 20H2 release, and I’ve tested it with multiple APs (RB4011, hAP ac, cAP ac) with different chipsets, everything to no avail. If you have any ideas, please come forward. Many thanks in advance!

Cheers,
