I have installed an 8Km 5a Ghz link with an ap with panel antenna and client with grid antenna. The results are about -80 db. I’m sure that both antennas have vertical polarization but I think that grid’s polarization “points up” and panel’s polarization “points down”. Does this affects the link quality?
Vertical is up and down, but it sounds like you are saying they are not pointing at each other very well, as you have one pointed up and the other pointed down. If that is in fact the case, then you need to align them properly. The signal from each should be pointed directly at the other one.
Thanx for the reply. After a little research, I think that, up or down orientation refers only on sectors and omnis where the e-plane graph is not symmetrical on the x-axis.
In my setup I believe that the problem is the pigtails or the alignment or the 10euros panel.
