Noob issue, can't get RB2011UAS-2HnD-IN wireless to connect.

Hi All, hate to resort to this but since I’m not an IT professional I could use some help. I’ve managed to get my new RB2011 working fine with Ethernet connections but can’t seem to figure out how to setup the wireless properly. This is just a simple home application but the default configuration doesn’t work for me and I haven’t found a solution trying various settings through Winbox.

My laptop is sitting 3’ away and sees the SSID but won’t connect or even ask for a password. I disabled security and it will connect but there’s no internet access. What am I doing wrong?

Try the wireless protocol to set on “any”
What have you just done, have you reset the router?
Have you delete the default setting?

Thanks for the reply plisken, I’m just using 802.11 for the wireless protocol as I only need to connect to consumer devices. I had a faulty RJ45 connector that complicated the issue but I managed to get a wireless connection to my laptop at last. I’m still having a problem connecting with my son’s Lenovo laptop (Intel Centrino 6200 AGN adapter), diagnostics tell me to check encryption settings but they match the router (WPA2-PSK, tkip, aes).

Any suggestions more than welcome.

Go to “wireless” and than to “security profile”
by “name” give you the new profile a name
There can jou setup the wireless security
I click all the options aan wpa, wpa2, tkip, enz
See the printscreens that i made

Give by wpa and wpa2 a kye and save this profile.
Go to the wireless settings and there see you “security profile”
select the profile that you made

Try than to connect to the router

I don’t know what happened, but after creating the second security profile I can connect using the default (which is configured exactly the same). Confused but happy it works, thanks plisken. Upped your karma in gratitude, wish I could buy you a beer since I’ve wasted hours screwing around with this.

Thanks, to give me karma and that bear is for later
Good luck
