I have a problem, not all devices would connect to my Mikrotik AP, for example at the moment I have to clients with their notebooks and none would connect to my AP. Why does this happen? And how to solve this issue? Thank you.
I see no changes for wireless in the changelog, don’t see any reason to upgrade you just gave me a standard answer that is no help for me.
If smb could give a hint where should I dig I would really appreciate.
Country settings configure i Always as U.S. on 2.4 GHz.
Respect the output power of you re country of cource
The most devices are compatibel with this.
You can try this and let now the result.
I’ve turned off “hw protection mode” and “adaptive noise immunity”.
About the SSID, I think that it doesn’t matter if I use characters because… An SSID may be any combination of ASCII characters (i.e., any combination of letters, numbers, punctuation marks, etc.).
I don’t have at the moment a device that will not connect to my network, when I’ll have one I will do some testings.
Many wireless devices use 11 Wi-Fi channels.
If you have your country settings on U.S. you have 11 channels.
I dont know how match channels you have in your country?
The most devices are compatibel with this channels.
Here in Belgium we use 13 channels and some devices can not connect.
Therefore my question
I already read here that some (typically apple) devices do not want to connect to mikrotik AP until the SSID contains other than capital letters or numbers. As I have not connect any of such devices to my APs, I cannot personally say if it is so or not. But it helped someone obviously several times (search the forum for evidence), so you can try. Maybe it will help you also.
I would also suggest to use regulatory domain frequency mode and set correct antenna gain. May happen that your signal is too strong for some devices or reflections are so strong that the client cannot handle it.
Try also lower channel, maybe your client can use only lower frequencies.
If you have nothing against, update your ROS (6.12) and FW (3.14) to latest.
I’ve had trouble in the past with HW Protection mode = cts/rts with iPhones not being able to connect.
Haven’t had any trouble with “CTS to self” mode - I would recommend using that, if there are many clients on the AP and too much traffic becomes a problem
