Hello to mikrotik forum
i have a problem with my local (private) link.
i have 2 x sxt lite 5 , lhg 5 with level 4 licence, omnitik and rb433 with dualband cards.
the problem is - because of geographic location and city infrastructure (houses, buildings…) i have to use an indirect link between my private locations.
to cut short - i’m using wifi N , 40mhz nstreme links. i tried using nv2, the link is very stable, but has unacceptable high latency and near-unusable speed. i use voip on locations, MMO gaming etc.
it’s a personal link but i give free internet to friends that keep my mikrotiks on their house roofs.
the problems is - on all client devices, the signal is around -66 to -70dB, around 48-50dB SNR, CCQ 80-95%. and no matter that - NV2 links don’t go faster than 10mbit! that’s why i switched to nstreme, that goes 50-80mbits (real tcp speed). from one end of my network to the other end, i get usually a 45-50mbit speed with ping of 2ms. that’s OK. but i get at least a link drop every 12 hours.
the link is never used at 100%, although that doesn’t affect the link breaking, today i was transferring 20GB of data at max speed of around 55mbit, and the link was stable.
it’s not a problem if it happens and reconnects, but why the long reconnect time? with nv2, if the link breaks , it reconnects in the same second. with nstreme, it is usually 13-16seconds, and that’s too long.
all the links are dual polarisation, using both chains, and wifi N. the rb433 was using a single chain and normal grid antenna, and the link was breaking around 50-60 times per day, so i disabled that device and is not in use any more. all devices are on their default power settings.
ros version are 6.33, 6.34 and 6.35 depending on device.
on all client devices the settings are the same, single frequency in scan list, only-N mode. there is no interference and no other networks near my frequency , we don’t have WISP providers because of cheap high speed broadband.
please advise what to do to lower the reconnect time.
