NTP server issue

Hi,

can MT serve as sntp server to windows machines? do I need to create some additional firewall rules? Should ntpd be listed as service in winbox? Also I am totally confused: ntp uses tcp 123 or udp 123 (findings in documentation and this forum are inconsistent)

Yes, you can. You dont need additional firewall rules or services. You need NTP package loaded on Mikrotik and NTP server. In NTP client configuration define NTP servers to synchronize with and enable unicast mode. You can find a list of public time servers here
http://ntp.isc.org/bin/view/Servers/WebHome
Then enable manycast mode (or broadcast but it is not recommended) in NTP server configuration and point your windows client time service to Mikrotik.
