I am getting ready to set up new links soon. They are links up to a tower site with lots of noise. I currently run a Ubnt Rocket M2 and also another rocket M5 Link with the rocket dishes up to this tower.
I am moving office locations and am considering swapping the radios to UBTIK’s in place of the rockets during the move
The tower side is pretty noisy on both bands. How does NV2 hold up in noisy situations? I’m hoping to gain a little bit of throughput if possible. Distance is 7 Miles/ 11km
It is just like Airmax, if you have enough SNR it will work great. From my experience you need ~20-30dB SNR to get it to work really well. I have seen better throughput with NV2 than Airmax in similar conditions.
Thanks for the reply. I keep hearing about how awesome NV2 is. I’ve tested a few links indoors at the office. If definitely looks promising! I really want to give it a try in the field.
If there is lots of noise be prepared to spend time setting up your antenna’s, co-location noise rejection and placement is critical on the mast for each antenna to use NV2 otherwise you could experience regular disconnects, http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/radio-card-rx-bandwidth/45267/1
