Obtaining a copy of the beta ROS (4) and 0ther info

A company that I do work for, has a very large WIFI customer database here in the Chicago area and currently use a lot of these boxes/software for configurations and would like to know how to get a copy of the beta so I can play with it in Linux here. I would very much like to have a native “winbox” style utility for Linux and/or a 64 bit system. I have over twenty years in coding and would like to see the ROS take full advantage of a 64 bit AMD Linux system.

I currently run the Winbox via Wine in Mandrvia Cooker and have no probs, but I can definitely see room for future expansion. I do not know if the ROS is GPL based or proprietary or what, but I would sure love to build a Linux Client for those that use KDE remotely.

Thanks

Tim

i hate to tell you this, but RouterOS v4 is not even in alpha yet

Hi

That is ok. I can wait. I like Windows about the as I like being shot. It’s Linux whenever possible.

New LinBox utility? =)

that is wine + winbox = winebox works reliably for me.

Wine + mstcorefonts so winbox terminal looks right.. at least on Ubuntu and Slackware.

You may do that. Use ROS 3, learn how it’s API works and feel free to make an app that would be similar to Winbox, but works under Linux.
