Odd 532A POE problem

RB/532A With a Pac Wireless POE-48i . We’ve had two times in the past 4 months when it locked and the POE had to be unplugged/replugged.

Worked OK until last night when we had a good Thunder storm. No hits at the site, but now when the POE ‘hub’ side is plugged into the Switch (tried three different NEW switches) the RB Dies - if you are connected to it wirelessly it just stops responding. The POE LED which is supposed to be green flashes green REALLY breifly and then nothing. Disconnect the Hub side cable from the switch and the RB boots up again. Log show ‘suspected power outage’.

When I connect the POE ‘hub’ side Ethernet Cable to my Laptop it works fine. I can ping and manage the RB without a problem. Move it back to the Switch and the RB dies immediately.

I’ve swapped the Tower Cable, the POE, the POE to ‘hub’ Jumper and the switch. No Change.

Tried another RB on the same cables and POE and it works fine.

Tried configuring the ‘broken’ RB to 10MB/Half, with auto neg on and off - no difference.

WTF ?

try replacing the power adapter.
Failing that, I would suggest replacing the Cat5, or at least check the cat5 for shorts and breaks.

Did all that - no difference. Tried a straight through and a roll over cable on the ‘hub’ side of the POE too - same thing. Also tried multiple switches - no change. Only thing that works is when the ‘hub’ side of the POE is plugged into a PC or Laptop. As soon as it’s connected to a Switch the RB dies.

if the PoE light flashes it generally means you’re got a short on the power lines between the PoE Injector and the 532…

check for water in your connection up on the tower, we’ve seen similar symptoms when the “weatherproof” seal leaked in a storm…

Thanks - I replaced the Pac Wireless Adaptor on the top end too - no change. And the flash only happens when the back end cable is plugged into a Switch… a laptop works fine. Very bizaar. I think I’ll run another cable up an use it for Ethernet on another port and the POE can stay on it’s own line.
