Which OID can I use to retrieve SNR values from my mikrotik?
Try:
print oid
However I don’t believe there is an OID for noise-floor… At least I couldn’t find it.
Any way to get information from the AP other than just strength? For instance, the AP shows the name of the registered radio and MAC address but no OIDs are listed for this information. Any idea on how to obtain it?
No ideas at the moment.
Look in the scripts section - I posted a couple there a couple of days back.
Shouldn’t any enterprise level equipment support SNR, and more, via SNMP?
I think MT has to put a bit more effort into this kind of things. Currently we have customers that is considering other options because of the lack of extensive SNMP support in MT.
I monitor quite a few things via SNMP with Cacti such as interface traffic, available disk space, cpu usage, memory usage, client interface data rates, client interface frequency, client interface signal level, and system uptime.
Note that SNMP monitoring of things like data rate, frequency and signal level can only be done for station mode interfaces at this time. I haven’t really monkied with trying to monitor the signal level of clients associated to an AP, I expect the OID table changes so much it’d have to be a very complex setup - more complex than Cacti is capable of monitoring.
They are putting more effort into it and working on it. I believe 2.10 will have a whole new snmp engine, with write support we’re told. Just be patient… it’s coming.
