Oil-like Stains Around Screws on New MikroTik RB5009UG+S+IN

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a brand-new MikroTik RB5009UG+S+IN, but I noticed something unusual. Around the screws on the device, there appear to be oil-like stains. The device seems to be sealed and unused, so I’m not sure if this is part of the manufacturing process or something else.

I’ve attached a photo for reference. Has anyone else encountered a similar issue? Is this normal for MikroTik devices, or should I be concerned?

Any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Do not know but it could be the effect of freshly oiled/greesed screwdrivers used during assembly process.

Common and not a problem. Have had it on 4 RB5009s I’ve fielded. Believe there have been multiple posts on this forum about this very thing.

loctite?

This is because of the thermal pads bleeding silicone oils through those holes. Not really an issue.

Exactly! I have opened my device out of curiosity. It has the same stains. Cosmetic issue only.
