Ok, who locked the user editable wiki?!

“This is a user editable how-to page, anyone can contribute!”

Like someone else, I was looking for a section on factory resetting the RB750G. I didn’t find one, saw that page and thought I’d start a 750 section as I see there’s a growing number of 750 starter questions (yes I just created 2 threads).

I’m not a coder of this stuff… but I can doc it. I did a truck load of documentation on the user interface for DTC last year and this year I’m starting to use the 750G so thought I’ve give something back.

However the wiki seems to be locked.

go into hardware and do it there: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Hardware

Thanks. I’m new to this wiki program as well, so I didn’t follow how the category list was created on that page.

I’ve created http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/RB_750G_-_Getting_Started_Help with a link to a user page so people can validate the quality of the author (me) and put a link to the new pages from the page you linked.

I didn’t see any sort of edit policy, so please feel free to reject my contributions if they’re not in keeping with your work.

As I’m a brand new user, I was planing on keeping a bit of a ‘journal’ type page to help other new users at my skill level, which I suspect it a bit lower than your average Cisco sys admin.

HTH.

Just some advice, many of the basics are already covered in the wiki, use search or browse. The reset procedure and the function of the button are explained here: http://www.routerboard.com/pricelist/download_file.php?file_id=191

Cool, I will read that and link it in.

My plan is to just make the page, if that’s ok, and as I find the info in other places, just provide links back to the content so that there’s isn’t two sources of info to support. Or if you prefer I’ll just keep a wiki on my own site of stuff that I found of use, but on other projects I’ve worked on the maintainers often prefer not to have other content outside their control.

D

I’ts ok, you can make your own page like that.

Sorry, bit confused, you’d prefer I used my own site?

D

no, you can keep using our system. that’s what it’s for

Ok, very good. I think that is a much better idea as it saves people from searching round the internet to find outdated content that might not be right.

You’ll see I updated my page already with your links from the other domain.

Edit: That was a helpful page too… I didn’t know they unit only uses 3.6w under load. That should make them easy for me to sell more of as the cost of power here means people can actually save money to pay for the investment!
