Hi all, ¿anyone knows if it is possible to buy MikroTik devices from old hardware revisions?
I need to maintain the service at 6.34.6 routerOS version, and the new “feature” of RouterOS (which prevents downgrading equipment under the factory routerOS version), does not allow to use new hardware revisions with old firmware versions.
Thanks!
You should be able to install that version on any support hardware via netinstall. If the firmware prevents it (I don’t recall that being an issue) you can likely downgrade the firmware.
First of all, I confirm that the device does not allow to downgrade, I can see this message in the log after uploading the file, and downgrading (/system package downgrade):
[vpn@00-0C-42-95-B2-9B] > log print
01:40:18 system,info verified routeros-mipsbe-6.34.6.npk
01:40:21 system, error omitting package routeros-mipsbe-6.34.6: min RouterOS version is 6.35.2
In the second place, although it will not be possible for all the cases, It may be useful for me what you say about Netinstall, but I’m not sure of how to do it. ¿Can you explain a little bit? ¿Do I need to downgrade also the routerboot to support lower versions?
Thanks in advance!
