Old hEX RB750 with RouterOS 5.11 - Netinstall Not Working

Hello My friends,

I found a very old MikroTik hEX RB750 router that is still running RouterOS version 5.11.

I tried using Netinstall to reinstall or upgrade the device, but unfortunately, I haven’t had any success. I followed the standard Netinstall steps (holding the reset button, connecting via Ethernet, using a static IP, etc.), but the router does not appear in the Netinstall tool.

is there is another method with thouse old firmware version.

Try this.

Wouldn’t it be simpler to just reset the config and then upgrade to v6 and then further if needed?

I tried this, but when I attempted to access the router using Winbox, I couldn’t connect. I thought it might be due to the old firmware version.

Will it not let you log in with 192.168.88.1 on the default config?

yes, I couldn’t log in. :man_shrugging:

I’m not sure, but may be newer WinBox versions don’t support it? Have you tried via web interface?

ahh. nice.! I forget this option, I will try..

“Newer” means WinBox 4.x or the latest 3.42? For v3 there is a “Legacy mode” switch in the “Tools” menu". Maybe it could help.

When running Netinstall, make sure to use a switch between your computer and the device to be netinstalled.

So I installed an old backup from a different router with the same architecture, and then I was able to access it.
Thank you.
