Old Packages

If mikrotik dont provide the files of older releases how does one reinstall their router if the licence has expired ?

From my understanding if your licence expires you can install the last released version before it expired. How does one do this if they want to netinstall and dont have the packages ?

Do you need to reinstall or can you use /system reset ?

Which version do you need ?

I dont need to do either, I am just saying somone could run into this situation.

I hold an archive of many versions since 2.8.13. This archive helped me a lot of times in different situations.

The best way is to keep an archive of versions you’ve used yourself. We keep history of all of them just in case we need to roll back.

MT should simply place archive download links in the account section of their website, that way if you’ve bought licenses you can go in and download older versions. I understand they don’t like posting them mainly because of some licensing cracks on older versions … but if you’ve paid and have a license you should be able to download them from a ‘restricted’ site or something.

Thanks,

I suposed if they keep them and one mails them with their valid licence key they can get the older versions, that seems reasonable.

yes, if you have a problem, just contact support

And anyway, I suggest admins to keep the latest proven to work versions locally. Twice I’ve run into situation when some routers refuse to start after upgrade, and the only way to recover it was to downgrade from archive. One of this failures leaved me without access to Internet at all.
