I’m pretty new to Mikrotik devices, and may have bitten off more than I can chew for the solution I think I need.
I have 2 (and eventually 6) Mikrotik Omnitik 5 AC access points, and I want to set them up to provide a mesh to relay network connectivity over an outdoor space.
The devices won’t necessarily be in a fixed location, which is why I’m trying for an omnidirectional mesh instead of ptp bridges.
The network layout will be something like WAN–Router—AP1 <—Wireless—> AP2–Cameras
With AP2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 moving around on the site over the course of the project. And sometimes AP3 being out of range of AP1, so AP2 would have to act as a relay, eg:
WAN–Router—AP1 <—Wireless—> AP2 <—Wireless—> AP3–Cameras
If I can also blanket the site with a usable wifi network that would be great, but isn’t required.
Basically, I want transparent bridges that act like a mesh network to give me stable connectivity on the site.
Is the Omnitik 5 AC an appropriate device for this solution?
Can someone give me some pointers on where to start with this solution?
