Good evening. I have an OmniTIK 5 PoE that reboots periodically. I tried changing the power supply, but the problem persists, and I wanted to know if anyone has any insight into why this is happening.
How old is the device? What conditions it works at?
Capacitors could have dried, moisture could have done it's job, if it works in full sunshine then there could be cracks in the motherboard from tensions and so on ...
Also, the RJ45 connector(s) may have some oxidized pins.
Cabling could be deteriorating, creating higher voltage drop.
- 24V or 48V?
- DC-jack fed or POE fed?
- What's your load (combination of all powered devices)?
Lots of info that you didn't include about the setup could give us a better idea of what's going on.
For me, most common cause of reboots is power is getting starved somewhere.
The unit is operating solely in bridge mode with no devices connected to the PoE ports; this has already been verified. The cable, connectors, and other components have been checked, yet the reboots continue every 5, 10, or 15 minutes.
reboots or WiFi stops working?
Maybe 5 / 10 / 15 min is corellated with DHCP lease somehow?
Any possibility that a device in the mix is causing some kind of loop? That'll do it too (in some cases).
