Omnitik port disable/enable takes down other interfaces

Right. That is it. I re-checked it again several times and that is it! When ether1 is enabled, all other active ports are switched off for a while and on then. Other ports do not cause that.

Good to know and report that.
It’s verry helpfull

So, here I copy the response from support (thanks to Krisjanis):

In this case it is normal for this router if ether1 is disable/enabled other ethernet interfaces will also go down/up. It is related to hardware/software inter communication which we could not resolve. However this behaviour will only appear if ether1 is triggered. Triggering ports from ether2 to ether5 will not cause such effect on other interfaces.

I would say, that there could be only one solution: If I have a port that has to be sometimes recycled, then I should use other than ether1. Actually, there is possibilty to use whatever port for whatever purpose freely, so I am thinking about re-wiring my devices, use only ether1 for powering and not for communication purposes. As I normally use 2-3 ports on omnitik for communication, I can leave ether1 unused and still have at least one additional port as spare. Re-wiring and re-configuration would be just unwanted work.

Starting now I will not install any other such device with ether1 as communication port.

I wish I was informed about this before I installed my Omnitiks on roofs… Hope it will help to others to prevent such disappointments.
