Once and for all COMPLETE Offbridge Port setup

I agree. I’m not sure who the advice is directed. If you’re new to MikroTik and new to networking, I’m would not recommend setting up a “off-bridge management port” - especially if you’re not using VLANs. And if you’re trying to setup VLANs, the problem is common advice to set vlan-filtering=yes LAST is wrong IMO. It is perfectly safe to enable at the FIRST thing. And combined with the tagged=bridge being automatically handled, it just a few steps to add a VLAN without getting “locked out”. The whole diversion to “OMG you have to setup an off-bridge port!” only make MikroTik more difficult to understand.

Even if one did get locked out. A newbie would be better severed by learning how to use backup and reset to default IMO. Or, enabling RoMON and learn how to use WinBox to access it. Either be MORE important than blindly copying a guide to setup an off-bridge port.

Basically any step that involves modifying the default firewall gets ticky since there no a single default configuration, and you can easily mess up the firewall to cause other problems is my concern here.
