I am a beginner using Mikrotik devices: I have a netPower16P, all Ethernet ports except WAN are in a bridge. An hAP and a wAP are connected to it via PoE, each in CAPS mode, with all ports including WLAN also combined in one bridge. The Netpower uses a DHCP server to assign IP addresses to the bridges on the APs. I cannot ping the hAP and the devices connected to it from the NetPower, although they have obtained there assigned IP address. Conversely, I can only reach the locally connected network devices from the hAP, but not the others. Actually, everything should work like a bridge via all ports on all devices. Where is my error?
Yes you are right. All devices in one bridge should be reachable. If you want normal assistance, then share yours netpower and hap devices configuration without sensitive data, otherwise it will be guessing.
A bit worried about that “Caps mode” statement. What is the corresponding config ?
CAPsMAN can run with local forwarding, but also centralise all traffic towards the CAPsMAN controller over tunnels ( called CAPWAP tunnel in RFC’s).
The attempt at bridging is probably intended for local forwarding. This works perfectly with MT devices , and I use it all the time with 30+ AP , but without CAPsMAN.
Verify the network design and the corresponding (user-)data flow.
