One SSID with WPA2 and one SSID with portal login

Hi,

I’m quite new into the Mikrotik world and have a few RB952Ui-5ac2nD up and running at our organisation’s locations.

We use the routers for wireless access via a 4G USB dongle and have two different login needs for different groups of users.

1. Group “Staff” needs a simple login to a combined SSID for 2,4 and 5 GHz with standard WPA2 password for all users in the group.

2. Group “Visitors” needs a separate open SSID with a login portal, preferable customized with logotype and information text, where the users should enter username and an individual password. There will be at maximum 20 different visitors.

How do I combine these two setups? Is there a guide to start from?

You should be able to create two virtual Interfaces (with different SSIDs) on your device. You need to create a security profile for the ‘Staff’ SSID with the WPA2 parameters you want. On the second SSID, you can run a Hotspot on it.
