OOB Access to remote infrastructure

Hi,

I’d like to install an OOB emergency 3/4/5G access to a remote site.

Remote infra is powered by an RB4011 and a CRS328-24G-4S+

I need to securely be able to connect to the infra in case main internet access is down.
So basic requirements

  • 4/5G modem
  • VPN server I can contact from “outside” via the “mobile” network
  • LAN access for connecting to the remote infra management VLAN
  • One or two serial ports to connect to the RB4011 and switch console ports

Any idea ?
Thanks in advance
EC

Small ARM/ARM6464-based MT-device and then a ZeroTier “OOB” network ?
No hassle with launching VPN’s etc. Its always “connected” via the cloud-switch. (zerotier)

zerotier is a very good idea !!! Thanks you !
About Hardware: do you have any advice ?
would this device fit ? https://mikrotik.com/product/wap_ac_lte_kit

Many thanks
Etienne

This thing has serial ports ? Alternatively you can just use the “ethernet” ports no ? 1 cable to RB4011 en 1 ethernet to CRS328-24G-4S+ and make the appropriate IP-config.

Rebooting this post..

I’m looking for a mikrotik device with

  • zerotier

  • LTE modem

  • Serial port

  • Usb

  • 1 Ethernet (or 2)

  • wifi optional..

Looks like one or the other feature is missing…

  • zerotier KO on MIPS
  • arm lacks serial or usb..

This could fit https://mikrotik.com/product/ltap_mini_lte_kit provided it supports Wireguard, does it ?

RAM should be ok to run ROS7, so wireguard is no problem.
Flash might become thight.
In the same line, I’ve used SXT LTE with ROS7 and wireguard without any problems. No USB, no serial, no wifi, only 2 eth ports.
But both are not ARM, so no zerotier.

If it’s for indoor use, AC3 LTE ? No serial.
Be advised though you can not use wifwave2 drivers on that device.
Audience might be another option then.
