I have a few mesh networks using open-mesh.com dashboard to manage, but i want to get all the mesh clients autenticated in my radius server with mikrotik hotspot.
Please see the diagram.
Is that possible with the mesh network ?
(note that the mesh access points must contact with the open-mesh dashboard every 30 minutes)
all the mesh access points have dhcp server and i think i cannot disable it.
I don’t think you can.
I tried the same thing with Meraki equipment and couldn’t get it to work. Even had a couple other people try who know more than me without luck.
If you do find a way please post it. I would be very interested in how its done.
Without major changes this will not work and might never work.
Which version of open-mesh firmware are you using? Is it ROBIN?
What is your hardware?
ROBIN uses olsr and each node is essentially its own router with dhcp, dns, captive portal, etc. There can be lots of nat layers. the mesh is formed using adhoc connections between nodes.
If your hardware supports it, you can reflash the nodes to use batman-adv.
batman-adv is a layer 2 mesh and can be made compatible with a MT hotspot.
from what I understand you can set them up as bridges and still use the dashboard and mt hotspot.. Please contact Daniel G from smartwires.net his done it and am setting up the same thing. I am switching from groove metals to open mesh equipment but keeping my hotspot with MT..
